Stretching at the Stretch Place

Assisted Stretching

Assisted Stretching is a bodywork modality that allows a trained stretch therapist to apply range of motion movements to the body in a safe and supportive way.

Why Assisted over Self-Stretch?

Assisted Stretching provides a greater benefit to the patient than at-home self-stretched because when self-stretching at home, you don’t have the benefit of having a stretch therapist there placing additional pressure in specific areas. This added support can help deepen the stretch to achieve more levels of flexibility. Plus, our stretch therapists are trained to have an intentional cadence to the intensity of the stretches - we build upon each stretch within the session.

If injured, Assisted Stretching allows individuals to have assistance to hold the positions to improve mobility without exhausting themselves.

Types of Stretching

  • Contract Relax - also referred to as Resistance Stretching

  • Active Stretching

  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Stretching

  • Passive Stretching

Session Add-Ons

  • Aroma & Herbal Therapy - We use Aroma Therapy to improve mood and promote a sense of relaxation. In fact, several essential oils, including lavender, rose, orange, bergamot, lemon, sandalwood, and others, have been shown to relieve anxiety, stress, and depression.

  • Percussion Massage Gun - Massage guns are handheld devices that people can use to relieve muscle pain, tension, and soreness. Percussive therapy may suit people who exercise regularly, as it may also promote flexibility and aid muscle recovery.

What to Expect from a Session
